Rooftop Solar across Wales

RenewableUK present Dan McCallum of Egni with the Best New Startup award at the 2015 Wales Green Energy Awards.

Wales’ first PV Co-op

We established Egni Co-operative in 2013 as a pilot scheme to raise money through community shares and then install rooftop solar on 7 community buildings in the Valleys in south Wales. We had a very positive response and raised £260,000 for those initial installations.

Egni Co-op was the first Solar PV Co-operative in Wales and won the Best New Startup award at the RenewableUK Wales Green Energy Awards 2014.

Now 90 Sites across south Wales, and growing

Since then, Egni Co-op has installed nearly 5MWp of rooftop solar on schools, community buildings, local authorities and businesses. The videos below show our install at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales which at the time, was the largest solar array in Wales and our install at Merthyr Town Football Club. Both were made by Mike Harrison, our fab Bafta Cymru-winning local film maker.
